Maintenance II Public Works position opening

The City of Baldwin City has an immediate opening for a full-time Maintenance II position in Public Works.

Under the supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Maintenance Tech II – Public Works position is non-exempt under FLSA.  This position performs a variety of unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work individually or as part of a crew, and operates a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of City water, sewer, street and storm drainage facilities and systems.  This employee should possess a strong mechanical aptitude, as well as effective communication and public relations skills.

Salary range: $18.60 – $26.02 depending on experience

Two Police Officer positions

The City of Baldwin City is now accepting applications for 2 – full-time Police Officers.


The position protects and serves the citizens of Baldwin City.  This position provides citizen assistance, enforces all federal, state, and local laws, and performs patrol duties.  Making arrests, issuing citations for traffic violations, and investigating crimes and accidents are the primary responsibilities of this position.  This employee should possess excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Qualified applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, have a High School/GED education and be at least 21 years of age.

Experienced officer preferred; KLETC certified or equivalent.

Annual Salary Range is $37,565.00 to $51,695. Depending on Qualifications.

Codes Administrator Opening

City of Baldwin City is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Codes Administrator.


Under the supervision of the Community Development Director, the Codes Administrator is a non-exempt position under FLSA.  This position performs administrative duties, is responsible for the enforcement of codes and ordinances for building occupancy, zoning and subdivision regulations.  Promoting public safety in the City’s built environment, and in general, is required.  This employee should possess excellent organizational, public relations and communication skills.

Education: HS diploma, preferable some college education

Minimum experience: 5 years related experience and/or training

Applicant must have plumbing, electrical and building certifications. Within one year of employment must obtain mechanical and plan review certification.
