Baldwin City operates its own water utility. The City has annual rights to approximately 330 million gallons of water from Clinton Lake, and the water is treated by the City of Lawrence. The treated water is then delivered to the City’s distribution system by pipeline.
Baldwin City built two 750,000 gallon water towers in 2003, which increased water pressure in the City by an average of 23 psi. The City is currently evaluating further infrastructure improvements.
The City currently sells wholesale water to the cities of Wellsville and Edgerton, as well as Douglas County Rural Water District No. 4.
