Baldwin City Parks

Grove St. Park & City Pool
The Baldwin City Pool and Grove Park area is located at Grove Street and 3rd Street. The park has a swing, slide and some horse rides. It probably is set up more for younger kids rather than older. There is a shelter with picnic tables. The pool is open in the summer, Memorial Day thru Labor Day, and is operated through the Baldwin City Recreation Commission.

Baldwin City Park
Baldwin City Park, 1830 North 100 Road, is adjacent to Spring Creek Lake southeast of Baldwin City. Spring Creek Lake was used as a source of water for the City until the late 1970's, and the City has since maintained a picnic area at the lake. The City participates in the Kansas Department of Wildlife & Parks Community Fisheries Assistance Program, which stocks the lake annually for anglers and tries to improve fish habitat.

West Park
West Park is located at 11th Street and High Street. It has swings, slide and other play equipment as well as a shelter area. There is also a basketball court. Some of the play ground equipment found in West Park is ADA accessable.

Other Areas
Other park areas are located in the Signal Oaks subdivision, Signal Ridge Subdivision and Firetree Subdivision. These parks are currently undeveloped. Santa Fe Historical Society also maintains a small play area at the depot.

Golf Course
Baldwin Golf Association leases the golf course from the City. It is a 9 hole sand green course and is open to the public.

The Baldwin City Recreation Commission facilitates all recreational programming in the City, from youth sports to activities for seniors. For any questions on these programs, contact the BCRC at (785) 594-3670 or visit their website at http://www.baldwinrec.org.

In 2004, the City implemented a park impact fee on building permits issued for new construction. The proceeds from this fee will be dedicated to purchasing playground equipment and other capital improvements at the City's parks.
