Friends of the Library City-Wide Garage Sale
June 5, 2010
Preparations are underway for the 22nd Annual Baldwin Citywide Garage Sale, to be held Saturday, June 5.
Clean out your closets, garages, and basements, then publicize your sale and help the library at the same time. For just $5 you can list your address and treasures in the Friends of the Library Garage Sale Directory. You will receive a yard sign that identifies your sale as an official Citywide Garage Sale site.
Each year more than 100 garage sales and 60 businesses are listed in the directory. Last year more than 300 copies were sold to local residents and visitors. Through this event and your support, Friends of the Library raises funds to help sponsor the summer reading program, guest speakers, book discussions, and Night of 1,000 Stars reading event. Funds also help the library purchase new materials and equipment.
If you would like your sale to appear in the directory, please fill out the form inside and return it with your payment to the library no later than Friday, May 21st. The fee is $5 per family and $20 for organizations.
The directory also includes business ads. If you are a business partner, your membership fee includes a free ad in the directory. Please drop your ad by the library.
The Friends would appreciate help from fellow members in handing out signs and distributing directories on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. A sign-up sheet will be located in the library lobby.
Friends members may pick up their free copy of the Garage Sale Directory on Friday evening, June 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the library. Those who have advertised their sales in the directory can pick up their copies and yard signs at the same time. Directory sales to the public begin on Saturday morning at the Library and in the parking lot near the corner of Eighth Street and Ames (on the south side of highway 56); thanks to the Baldwin Athletic Club for providing this site once again.
