Midland Historic Railway

Midland Historic Railway

The Midland Historic Railway operates excursion trains on a line originally constructed in 1867. The early 1900's vintage coach makes an 11-mile round trip from Baldwin City to Norwood, Kansas, via "Nowhere," traveling through scenic Eastern Kansas farmlands and woods, across a 200 foot trestle 24 feet above a meanding stream.

The Midland completed reconstruction of the line connecting Baldwin City and neighboring Ottawa, Kansas in 2004 and makes regular runs betweeen the two cities out of its home at the Santa Fe Depot located 8 blocks west of downtown Baldwin City.

Special seasonal trains include the Easter Egg Hunt Special and "Terror on the Tracks" at Halloween. A chartered car, special train, and school tour services are also available. For the last several years, Thomas the Tank has also visited Baldwin City for "A Day Out with Thomas," as pictured below.
