Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail in Baldwin City, with fun family activities out at Black Jack Cabin Roadside Park and in Downtown Baldwin City. 
Shuttle buses will run from the Baldwin City High School out to the Trail Park from 10am-4pm.

At the Trail Park

  • New walking trail showcasing some of the best Santa Fe Trail ruts along the entire trail length
  • Speakers from the National Park Service, the Santa Fe Trail Association, and Kansas Department of Transportation, Douglas County, and Baldwin City
  • Covered wagon replica
  • Black Jack Cabin pioneer artifacts on display
  • First person reenactment of Ezekiel Williams
  • Battlefield walk with John Brown and Henry Pate

Downtown Baldwin City

  • Horse and buggy rides (limited availability) from 10am-12pm
  • Historic displays at the Lumberyard Arts Center and Baldwin City Library
  • Information and National Park Service trail maps, historic games, and toys in Sullivan Square
  • Authentic stage coach on display
  • Shop, eat, play at downtown stores and restaurants

Explore with the Santa Fe Landmark Tour on your own, with an audio accompaniment! Collect all thirteen tour stamps to be entered into a prize drawing. This tour was developed for the Douglas County Heritage Conservation Council for the Bicentennial of the Santa Fe Trail. Audio portions of this tour were recorded by the Baker University History Club.
